It is the biggest islands of the Egadi archipelago, its surface is 19 square km. The ridge “Montagna Grossa” goes from north to south and the  highest hill is 302 m. Tehj circumnavigation of the island is about 14 miles.  The harbour is situated  North west. Cala Grande, Cala Porro , Cala Rossa, Bue Marino and Pietra Caduta are good  places for moorings.

Lighthouses and lanterns: Lighthouse Capo Grosso  group 3 white flashes each  15 seconds; range 15 miles . Lighthouse  Punta Sottile one white flash each 8 seconds, range 25/27 miles. Lantern Punta Marsala 4 white lamps  each 15 seconds; range  15 miles.
