Leaving from the
Porto di Levante we pass close to the slopes of the crater. Behind the cape of
Punte Nere we find Cala Rossa in which R. Grande ends up. Exceeding Luccìa tip
we find many capes and relative inlet until arriving to the beach of Gelso; here
we meet one thermal source to the outlet of the Glen of Paparotta and the
Schicciola source.
Arrived to Punta Bandiera begin the abandoned terrazzamenti (terraced coast) and
exceeded the port of Gelso it jumps to the eye the Faro Nuovo (new beacon).
Exceeded then the Faro Vecchio (old beacon) it begins the coast of Conigliara
full of reefs and sand banks until catching up the tip that brings the same name.
Doubled this tip we find the cove Abate, the coast is less steep and finds again
the abandoned terraced coast. Following the coast we find the beach Lunga in the
inlet between the tip of Capo Secco and Capo Testa Grossa is the cove of Cavallo
(horse) where small boat can entered one by one, savouring the evocative effects
of lights. Proceeding, we find capes and small cove along the indented coast,
there are numerous reefs that arrive in sea and isolated peaks out of the sea,
until the Grande Faraglione di Ponente placed infront of the pleasant port that
brings the same name.
The turn of Vulcanello completes the turn of the island: we can look at Lena
beach, and the tip of the Rovereto. Afterwards you meet other warm water springs
and fumarole (smoking holes) and then, we re-entered in the porto di Levante.
